Projects that bring crews to East Texas
Line work
SWEPCO is rebuilding the Knox Lee–South Texas Eastman 138-kV line, about 7 miles of line in Harrison and Gregg counties southeast of Longview. Construction runs from spring 2026 to spring 2027.
Storm response
When the January 2026 winter storm hit, SWEPCO staged about 5,000 linemen at the Longview Fairgrounds. Storm crews mobilize again every hurricane season (June–Nov).
Power plant construction
SWEPCO is building a new gas plant at the former Pirkey site near Hallsville, about 16.5 mi / ≈23 min from us.
Pipeline & oil field
Pipeliners, welders and oil field hands working the Haynesville region on both sides of the state line stay with us.
Traveling crews welcome
Traveling carnival and show crews stay at Timberline too. The Triple T Amusements crew, which runs the Marshall Chamber of Commerce Carnival, stays here when the carnival is in town. That's usually late winter or spring, and often again in fall; dates vary.
Commutes from the park
Distances and drive times are approximate, calculated with the OSRM routing engine (router.project-osrm.org) from our front gate on Oct 19, 2026. They don't include traffic, construction, or stops, so plan for extra time in a big rig.
Directions
From I-20 (eastbound or westbound)
- Take I-20 Exit 620.
- Head north on FM 31 / Elysian Fields Rd.
- Go about 2.7 miles. Past Marks Hill Rd / Airport Rd the same road is called Elysian Fields Ave, so our address reads 4000 Elysian Fields Ave.
Coming from the north (US-59 / TX-43)
- Follow US-59 South (or TX-43 South) into Marshall.
- Turn east on US-80 / Victory Dr and go about 1 mile.
- Turn right on Indian Springs Dr, which becomes Elysian Fields Ave / FM 31. Timberline is about 0.4 mi on, at 4000 Elysian Fields Ave.
Life between shifts
Quiet hours run 9 PM–8 AM, so day-shift crews can get their sleep. There's a coin laundry and a bathhouse with hot showers, pets stay free, and the tall pines keep things shady in summer. Our sister campground, Marshall RV Park, is 0.6 mi down the same road if your crew needs more sites.
